Day 27 & 28 - Brown Paper Bag Maps & Harry Potter,

As the weather looked promising yesterday we decided to follow the “Brown Paper Bag” route 2 taking us around. the top of Loch Shiel and crossing the same ferry back to Onich that we caught on Saturday. It was a good decision as the sun shone on and the views were stunning across various Lochs. First stop was at Glenfinnan – where is a Jacobite monument to those who followed Prince Charles Edward in the ’45 uprising against England. But is better known today as a Harry Potter location for the train viaduct to Hogworts. The flying car sequence in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was  also filmed at Glenfinnan Railway Viaduct.

I might have been on this ferry before but this is going to be a tight squeeze!
Maybe this is the result of leaving the tap running an empty loch?

McCraig's Tower Oban
John McCaig's intention was to provide a lasting monument  to his family, and provide work for the local Stonemasons during the winter months when they had little other work. McCaig was an admirer of Roman and Greek architecture and had planned for an elaborate structure, based on the Colosseum in Rome. The tower was never completed due to McCraig's death and today is a park with scenic views across Oban.

As we  leave Oban you can see that the campsite has dried out, we have now moved on to Edinburgh, and having collected Mike from the airport as he is joining us for a few days.
