Day 15 – Englethwaite

We have arrived at Englethwaite on the edge of the Lake District!!! but near to Carlisle. Unfortunately whilst the campsite is beautiful it lacks internet connection (and a toilet block), and I don’t seem to get the dongle to work, thus the delay in posting yesterdays Blog. Thank goodness for free WiFi @Costa.

John Wesley preached in the old town hall and other locations around the town, but we are really just passing through on the way to Scotland. We plan to visit Carlisle Castle it was Britain’s most besieged castle as well as being a notorious prison whose inmates included Mary Queen of Scots. Near the campsite is Lanercost Priory- an Augustinian Priory, a stones-throw from Hadrians Wall, part of which Anne and I hope to walk. Edward I rested at Lanercost Priory for 5 months in 1306, shortly before his death.

Off to find an O2 shop to see how to use the dongle! - photos will follow later

To put your mind at rest – yes the caravan has all the facilities we need including internal loo and shower. Anne will not need to use the spare bucket!
